The context
ENI Gas e luce is an Italian energy company that, after acquiring electric vehicle charging infrastructure in Europe, decided to create an app to offer this service to its customers.
The project
Re-design the app from scratch making it more user friendly and implemeting the brand, the app will be available for iOS and Android, allows you to:
- Search for EV chargers near you or at a specific location.
- Filter chargers by power and connector type.
- View the number of chargers and their real-time status.
- Activate or stop the charging process.
- Pay for charging and save payment methods (e.g., PayPal).

My role
I worked with the product team to redesign an app concept originally developed by an external team. My main task was to improve the user experience, usability, accessibility, and add ENI brand identity with the aim to boost user adoption.

The process
We analyzed the deliverables in to many meetings and workshops, we made interviews with EV owners about common issues with charger finder apps, ideated solutions to their problems and prototyped many different mockup until get a solution more adapted to solve the needs of the end users, until we have it ready and approved to be developed.
User research
They mentioned problems like long registration processes, unstable logins, lack of payment options, and difficulty finding chargers near places like hotels, coffee shops, or shopping centers where they can wait during charging.
Ideation
We've in to ideation sessions were we agree to streamline the registration/login process to trigger only when a charging session starts, proposed adition of filters by charger power and proximity of hotels, cafeterias, restaurants etc.

Prototipe
We went through many iterations on the visual design. Initially the app was natively adapted to each platform's style guide for iOS and Android, using Google Material Design and Apple iOS Human Interface guidelines.

Delivering
Later, we developed a new UI from scratch, customizing components for a streamlined, EV charger-specific experience. We incorporated insights from user interviews and ideation sessions to create the final proposal mockups.
